Scouting Ahead

Claire

She has been very curious now that she knows how to ask questions and will constantly find me cleaning or packing and ask me "what doing mama" in the cutest voice. It makes me laugh but I always answer so she knows what is going on and that we are getting ready to move. She had fun with the time with Nana until the last day waking up from a nap, but was able to go to a park with family. I was told of her many fun times and she was very possessive of the iPad when we FaceTimed being excited to talk to us. She came out during my yard sale and was very happy to say hello to all the visitors we had.

Shay

I would say she is the funnest little one year old I know right now because she likes to play hide and seek in the girl's room with a tent. She loves animals of all kind and wants to pet them and pull on their faces, hair, and anything else she can reach. The horses in the back yard have been very fun to have and we will miss them when we move, but Shay most of all. Her tastes are adventurous and she enjoyed a pickle this week but the way she ate it made me laugh because she sucked the juices first before eating it. She is also developing another laugh and has full on gut laughs when we play something she is enjoying, which are the funnest and simplest games sometimes.

Sacramento

Chris and I went to scout out houses and the Sacramento area, and had my mom come watch the girls for 3 days while we were gone. We drove a total of 20 hours and went through a snow storm that gave us a 2 hour set back...but we got to look at 4 apartments. We came home with our favorites and even though people have been terrible at communication and we were stressed, we are hopeful! I personally feel more stressed than anything because I always like having a plan and not knowing where we are going to live with less than 2 weeks before we move has me going crazy, but I have faith in the Lord to guide us.

Packing and Selling

In an attempt to rid ourselves of extra baggage, we had a 4 hour long yard sale and sold a few small things. Not nearly enough and since the donation center isn't taking donations right now and most things aren't trash worthy we still have a lot of extra stuff. We will probably have enough space in the moving truck so I'm not too worried, but it would have been nice to have it gone. The packing is continuing and my living room is filling with boxes, I'm cleaning and trying to re-clean what the girls dirtied already. Only a week left to get everything organized then hopefully we will be moving into our new place that we applied for and are just waiting to hear back. We have back up living places if things take longer, but again I'm working on my faith in the Lord to provide since we did as much as we could on our own.

Counting down

Claire

Our oldest little cutie is having fun learning about animals and saying their noises, learning more words and is able to remember colors, body parts and all sorts of objects. I love when she shows how smart she is becoming and only get slightly annoyed when she asks why 5 times in a row! She is still working on sharing with her sister and playing with her instead of hogging everything, as I'm sure that will last for a long time. With better communication she can now ask for things she isn't supposed to have and get even more upset when we don't give it to her, or don't have it to give. My specialty homemade pizza is her favorite meal and she will ask for it all the time, but if we don't have leftovers it is more than just a quick fix so I try to interest her in other foods.

Shay

This little stinker has such a forceful personality and demands things while making eye contact with you so she knows you are listening. I wish the parks were open because she is getting tired of having to be stuck in a seat while we go for walks. She likes to adventure and be the one to lead the charge where we go, but we try to distract her with snacks since she sees her sister getting to come out and walk with us. There have been some cute moments when she is ready for bed this past week and she will go to Claire to get her good night kiss before holding my hand to go into her room for bed time. I think it is so precious!

Chris, Love of my Life, Wonderful Husband, Amazing Man!!

I think of myself as being pretty handy and able to put things together and fix certain things, but I am grateful for a more capable husband! There have been many times he has fixed things around the house, especially right now when we are trying to fix a few things the girls have broken and wanting the rental deposit back. He has helped his parents with a lot of projects like building a chicken house and putting fences up, so I like knowing when we have a house of our own we can do projects. In our search for a new place in Sacramento, we are excited for our life to be moving forward.

Mother's Day

I'm grateful to the husband I have who helps me be a good mother and the two beautiful girls I have who made me a mother. We spent the weekend enjoying the sunshine and matching which is always going to be my favorite thing to do with my family. I got to treat myself to my favorite ice cream, and a spa night after the girls were put to bed, but the best part was making Claire tell me she loves me! I love my crazy amazing mother and I'm glad she is coming to visit next weekend one last time before we both move farther away from each other.

Play time

Matching Summer

This is going to be the perfect summer for dressing my girls because they both let me put whatever I want on them. Claire likes to choose if I give her options but then I can pick what I want Shay to mach with and then I can get dressed after. I know soon she is going to start being picky, but for now I get to make them be cute together. They are also playing together more now that they are getting more stir crazy and have to only spend time with each other. They are eating meals at the same time, wanting to do a lot of playing with the same toys (not always ideal) and wanting to cuddle with mommy at the same time.

Claire

She is just as crazy as ever and always jumping around but the morning is so great because she is cuddly and we have a cuddle cartoon morning before breakfast and the start of the day. Our daily walks are fun because she likes to find colors, objects she knows how to name, and pretend to be a dog. We like to expedite our walks by putting her on our shoulders and she learned how to give shoulder rides to her dog! She still falls asleep reluctantly for nap time on the couch in the evening after tiring herself out all day, which makes putting her to bed on time harder and her summer bed time has become 9pm. It is really fun to talk with her now and bargain with her to eat more of her dinner before going to play.

Shay

Last weekend my mom came to visit, and Shay was wary of her for the first meeting even though she knows her! Then again when we went up to Blackfoot this weekend, she would look at people like they shouldn't be looking at her, even when she is being funny by running away from mommy before her got her pants pulled up! She likes getting what she wants and will tell you all about it by coming and looking at me with urgent grunts until I follow her to what she wants. She likes a lot of different foods and tries most things we give her even if some of it ends up on the floor after she decides it isn't good enough.

Moving

We will be moving in under a month!! It is getting so real now that Chris only has 9 shifts of work left, we have two weeks until we go visit to find a place to live in 26 days! Our visit to Blackfoot was our last we have planned for a baby blessing and dropping off things we aren't taking to California and it was bitter sweet. Now we won't be visiting until the end of the year most likely, and will rely on technology to talk with family. At least the girls liked seeing grandparents, cousins, and the animals. I hope they know what is going on enough that moving doesn't scare them, we have packed boxes in the living room, and we are constantly talking about it so they can get the sense that things are going to change.
