Normalcy

It is very nice to be back together and getting back to the normalcy of life of working out, eating healthy, and spending time together. We are starting fresh this week with our carb cycling diet we did a while back and hope it will kick start my weight loss again to get the last of the pounds from pregnancy down.

Claire

She is definitely loving having daddy home by how many times she plays with him by locking him in her closet and climbing on top of him. She's going back to the habit of not eating very much now that there isn't someone to steal food from I guess. Whenever we try to get her to eat she doesn't stay put even now that we have a shorter table since Chris got nervous seeing her climb up on her own. It was funny when Claire woke up from her nap to see that we didn't have a table then luckily we found what we wanted for the same price we sold our other one for on the same day. It even fit in Chris's car so now Claire uses the easily pushed chairs to get to all the places on the counter she hadn't been able to get to...yay.

Shay

Holy cow this girl is getting so big! She will be 4 months tomorrow! She is getting so big and strong, especially when she is doing tummy time and looking around at all that is going on. She has rolled over once from her front to her back when I was out of the room and Chris was watching her, but not in front of me yet. She can roll herself on her sides when she is laying on her back so she will be getting there pretty soon probably! She can go to sleep better on her own for a couple hours but after the first long time she wakes up and only sleeps in two hour time periods. She is still sleeping in our room but I have her crib ready in Claire's room and she took her first nap in there today.

Chris and Me

It has been a long month and I've heard many many different complaints about the heat in the desert and the wasted time that happened out there. I've also heard many times how happy he is to finally be out of there and how much he missed his girls and is glad he can get all the kisses he has missed out on. He is already back to Claire's favorite parent it feels like and Shay easily falls asleep on him which is so unfair because I love being cuddled with too! My favorite part of newborns is when they fall asleep cuddled into my neck but Shay only has naps on Chris, I guess he is pretty comfy to cuddle with.

HE'S BACK!!

There was a lot that happened this week but the best part was yesterday when Chris came home from his month long annual training! I drove up to Pocatello where he was getting released Friday night after saying goodbye to my best friend at the airport. Saturday morning we got to finally be back together and we spent 3 hours talking and saying how much we missed each other while we drove home. We are so happy to be back together and we got to go to church today and get to have so much time together next week.

Company

My best friend and I had a great time this past week visiting different places and getting to spend time together. We visited heritage park on Tuesday because it was free, went to some splash pads, played with water in the back yard, visited Temple square, and had a lot of fun just staying up and talking. We made very yummy meals and spent several days taking good pictures of each other for our husbands then we would edit them after the kids went to bed and watch movies. If only we lived closer we could have fun girl dates all the time and not have to cram it all into the week we see each other! We would probably get into more trouble too...

Claire

After the first few days of having a friend over, she got very possessive of her toys and would take them away whenever they were being played with by someone else. I felt bad and want to teach her to share but she was not happy about any of it and would give me so much attitude I had to try not to laugh. She was always good about "kissing it better" when ever I told her to so that is a start! She liked the water at the parks and in the backyard and we still went to the gym every day to get her some out of the house time. Sleeping was a bit difficult because they didn't nap for the same length and if they woke each other up they would be cranky so we had to start having them nap at separate times.

Shay

This little cutie was the best behaved kid in the house sometimes and just had fun as long as she was in the same room as people. She just likes to be involved with what is going on and doesn't want to be forgotten, so classic 2nd child syndrome probably. Shay is getting so big! She is outgrowing cloths faster than Claire did and has cute baby fat that Claire definitely didn't have so they will probably be mistaken as twins in a year or two. Her sleeping habits seem to be getting a bit better and spitting up doesn't happen EVERY time she eats, but its enough to be annoying when it does happen.

Chris

We have a few days before he has to go back to work so we've played some games together, watched movies while cuddling, and have gym plans all next week. I'm so happy to have him back and he is happy to be back! Apparently they only feed them MREs most the time and Chris didn't have an appitite for them very much so when he got back he had lost 10 pounds (if only I had been able to match that I would be doing great). He is looking forward to eating delicious food again and we are going to start our carb cycling diet to help me the rest of my baby weight too. He loves cuddling with Claire and Shay who has fallen asleep on him 3 times already! He thinks he has missed so much because Shay is getting bigger and holds her head up in tummy time so well, and Claire is saying some more words.

Company

This past week has been so great! My best friend visited me all the way from Missouri to keep me busy during the last week of Chris being away which was much needed for both of us. We were able to have some fun times with our kiddos.

Early Week

I tried really hard to be a wonderful mother and take the girls to parks every day as well as going to the gym with them once we were home alone. We did some fun time playing outside in a mini pool and found a splash pad that we didn't understand how it turned on so Claire and I just played by running around without water. I already knew how hard it was to be a single parent but to keep my house clean while trying to teach Claire words and give Shay attention too takes up all my time in a day. I don't get many minutes to myself to do much so I don't get a chance to work on our blog very often.

Claire

She is thoroughly enjoying the company we have even if she had to get used to the idea of sharing her toys with a new friend. Her boy is a sweet boy and even though he is younger than Claire, he is a little bigger and can stand up to her bullying. We've gone to two different parks so far and been able to hang out with a lot of quality time to hopefully help her get used to sharing so when Shay is old enough they can share better. There was one day that she went to our bedroom door that was closed and knocked on it to try and find Chris but since he's gone she was sad. It broke my heart and I wish we didn't have to be apart, but soon it will be over and we can be a happy family again.

Shay

My amazing little angel baby is getting so cute! She laughs so much sometimes because she loves when we laugh and make funny faces with her so she is starting to giggle with us. Chris feels like she has already changed so much in the last 3 weeks and can't wait to be home with us to hear her giggle again. We are just all wanting to be together again and then we can go back to matching and being a wonderful happy family again. Shay is getting more and more precious as she grows into the adorable girl she is and as much as I wish she would stay this way I can't wait until I know her personality and who she is going to be. I'm so happy when thinking about the future of my two daughters.

Matching

I got to match my cute girls with our jean jackets last Sunday and even though Shay spit up on my dress before church and it was impossible to get a cute picture, I was happy to match. I honestly don't look forward to when they want to pick their own outfits. My best friend made us all an outfit that we matched together with a sour patch theme! The kids' outfits said "You don't want to see my Sour side" in a sour patch shadow and ours said "You have to have the Sour to appreciate the sweet" in the same shadow. We all had the different color shirts that sour patch kids come in and the tie dye pants were the best! We wore them to go get cupcakes from a delicious place trying to match our trip in Chicago a year ago.

Summer Adventures

Yes, it has been a few weeks since my last post and yes, it isn't Sunday when I usually post my updates but with traveling and being alone it has really been hard to have time alone to work on it. Claire likes to terrorize our little office whenever we are over in the area and likes type on the keyboard if I bring my laptop out of the area.

Separation

As much as we appreciate all that the military has done for getting Chris through school and the health care that we get, the worst part is Annual Training. This year it is twice as long and in the heat of the desert in California with half of it "in the box" which means he can't have his phone at all. Very lonely for the girls he left here at home and the time without his phone has already started! He had a few days of travel and prep then went out to intense training in that dreaded box, but he has broken the rules and turns his phone on once a night to send me a love text that I get to wake up to. The week before we were separated we took time to have a date night, set up Claire's new bed to make room for Shay to take the crib back, and did a day trip to see his brother's graduation.

Traveling

When the time finally came to drop him in Pocatello (I wasn't about to let him drive away from me so we got those last 3 hours together), we said our sweet goodbyes and I continued to his parents in Blackfoot. I stayed the night and then left EARLY the next morning, since Claire is sleeping in less and less, to Montana and a week long stay with Nana and Grandpa Cox. We got to stop at this amazing new park in Butte that Claire had fun playing in. I made a snack case for Claire so I could open it and reach back to give it to her when she needed a snack that had many of the foods she has been known to eat. She really liked picking her own snack out of all the options and I learned which ones she likes most. I also learned not to let her see it until the actual trip because she wanted it all before we even got packed up in the car to leave.

Montana

It was so nice to spend some real time with my parents instead of just the quick weekends we seem to have these last few months. My mom is still recovering from her back surgery but was able to play and cuddle with the girls whenever she wanted. Claire met their new dog, Bentley, by scaring him while chasing him with a happy laugh, and she would get just as happy every morning seeing him again. It was like a new experience every time and I had to tell her a lot to be nice to the dog and pet him instead of hit because she was too excited. I had fun playing board games, cooking yummy recipes, and talking with my parents, while the girls enjoyed the children's museum and parks we visited while there. I am super jealous of their fenced in back yard because it was really nice to open the door and let Claire play outside while I watched her undo my dad's garden labels from inside with Shay.

Shay

Our little girl is already 3 months! I am amazed at how time seems to be speeding by and I can get enough of her smiles she has for me now. I love making her giggle and she likes to let people know she is alone by cooing and squeaking. She sleeps less and less time during the day but is doing great at night until I leave the room to teach my classes. I've been only teaching priority requests and short notice classes, which means I only open them the night before, and usually 2 a day so she isn't alone very long. I'll feed her right before class so she can sleep through them all hopefully but it doesn't always work that way, darn those cute babies for needing us so much.

Claire

I can tell that Claire really misses her dad because she smiles when I show her pictures and watched the videos he made for us one after another over and over again the other day. She is learning more words like 'ball' and 'yellow' this last week and now that she is finally copying my sounds I plan on making time every day to teach her more. We got to play outside the other day with our downstairs neighbor who talks so much more than her and they are only a month apart in age. Maybe I should have started learning earlier but she never seemed interested after learning the few sign language things I taught her. She would just repeat them over and over no matter what I tried to get her to do so now I hope thing can progress to words.Claire woke up one Sunday while I was straightening my hair and wanted to use it so I tried it out and found out I love her curls!

Home Alone

Now we are home and back to the some what normalcy that it brings but without Chris its all just about getting through the day. We've picked up going to the gym every day again and plan to find out how fun the splash pad parks around here are now that they are open with water. I'll be alone until the 13th when my best friend in the whole world is coming to visit and keep me company! I'm very excited for her to fly out with her little one to make the last week of my time without Chris full of joy. Last time she came I was all pregnant and the time went by too fast so we are going to pack in as much fun as we can this time.
