Merry May

Adrian

I'm so happy he is all healed and happy this week. Now I have to teach him how to sleep without pacifying himself while feeding again! So far he is starting to hate his room because it's where mommy leaves him to sleep all alone. I've moved my rocking chair in there and spend time with him but today, just going in the room made him get really upset. He was already on the verge of being upset because he was getting tired, but going into the room set him off and he was crying the whole time I was trying to do his bedtime routine. I know he isn't even 4 months old, but he already knows I'm trying to get him in his own room instead of sleeping while feeding! I'm going to see how introducing him to a pacifier goes this week.

Claire

Last week of school! She is sad she doesn't get to see her friends and teacher anymore. I like that she is sad and not already excited when school is over. She had an eventful week though because they had a mini field trip to eat lunch across the street at a park, and the field day, and no school work basically. She got a yearbook signed by her classmates and friends on the playground and then because her birthday is in the summer they celebrated her birthday and gave her a book gift. Now I get to be driven crazy all summer with everyone here at home! I thought they would play more games together, but they seem to come to me and Chris more often to ask if we will play with them! Hopefully someone will want to use me as a daycare and they can have new friends. I've shown her how to handle Buttercup a little better but she is still hesitant to play without me present because she's scared.

Shay

She still doesn't understand that we have to have summer before she starts school and when Claire came home saying they celebrated her birthday, Shay thought she would get to go to school now. I guess that's what I get for telling her she will start school after Claire has her birthday! I've been working on my daycare schedule hoping someone will be interested in using my services, and now have a working summer schedule that will be structured, even if no one else joins us, the girls have a set time they have to do some kind of school work and reading every day. We are going to get prizes from the library for reading each day and Shay needs 250 more books before kindergarten to get her prizes. I really like that they enjoy library time and reading! I thought I had a picture of Shay with the garden she has been helping me with a little every day but its missing...so here is my garden...she has had fun helping me and its finally almost finished...I can still fit a few more herbs on the top sections and I'm waiting for some of the seeds we planted to grow.

Fishing Expedition!

 Adrian

It was a hard week because little man and I got sick this week! I thought we had avoided the whole thing when Chris was getting better, but I felt it one day and then the next it was awful. Luckily, for Adrian, it sounds worse than it was and he already seems to be doing better while I'm struggling to function. Chris says his airways are small so his coughing will always sound worse, and his low-grade fever didn't last more than a day. I'm also glad he is 3 months because technically he could have the littest amount of medicine since he's not a neonatal anymore. We only had to give it to him about 3 times when it was really bad and even drinking milk wasn't helping him. Luckily, he has some great sisters who love him so much and like to cuddle him.

Claire

On Saturday, we went to a Star Police-sponsored event where they let the girls try fishing and had booths and bounce houses. They got prizes from a lot of the booths and we entered a raffle that they were sad we didn't win, it was the main thing they talked about honestly. The prizes were big toys too and it was so hard to explain that they couldn't just have one because all the other booths just had stickers and little things for them. Claire was sad she didn't catch her own fish, but it was warm and Adrian didn't want me to just stand there for too long so we didn't fish for a long time. Plus they were mostly just playing in the sand until Chris said they could hold the fishing rod and reel the line in slowly.

Shay

During our fishing event, Shay actually caught a fish on her pole, even though Chris did all the work casting and putting the bait on and stuff. Shay has been asking to fish now that it's warmer and she really wants the fishing pole from Walmart that has Elsa and Anna on it. I told her I wouldn't buy it unless I knew she actually wanted to fish so this was perfect as a practice to see if they like it. The poles we had to borrow were for older kids and needed to be cast, but we saw some kids right next to us who were small with the button kind that was casting and catching their own fish! So now I have to buy the poles and Chris gets to take them to this cute little fishing hole over the summer to fish I guess. I was hoping they would be bored and decide they didn't want to, but they said they liked it, probably just to get the fishing pole...

Happy Mother's Day

 Mother's Day

I'm very happy for the mother I have who taught me how to be silly and responsible. I love the mother who raised my husband and has become a second mother, welcoming me into the family. I feel so grateful for the opportunity I have to be a mother to my beautiful children. They have shown me what true love is and even with my flaws, they love me and bring me so much joy. It feels like I am a completely different person just because I am a mom who thinks more about my children than myself I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day and enjoys the beautiful spring time we have!

Adrian

He has been moved into his own room! It's a bittersweet feeling because I've been enjoying him being my little baby, but I like having a room we don't have to tiptoe in when getting ready for bed. I love his long sleeping and only waking up once in the night to eat as well which I think being in his own room will help, even though I have to walk farther away to get him. He has started to drool so much! You might see pictures of him in bibs soon because I don't like when he soaks through his shirt or dribbles all over me when I'm holding him. He is pretty cute when he's smiling and starting to giggle at me though and I'm excited to use the new bouncer we got him because I remember Claire loving her exercise bouncer.

Claire

Her sickness which started early this week has migrated from her to Shay and Chris and is lingering and torturing him. Shay still coughs, but Chris is a lot worse for some reason, and it could be something completely different from his work. It's good that Claire is better because there was one day I had to go get her from school because she had pain in her ear that made her very sad in class apparently. It was an easy fix to give her medicine, but I don't like seeing her in pain and it was heartbreaking. She also has a loose tooth and when we went to the dentist, I was told they need to do better at getting all their teeth brushed! I will be watching both of them better...hopefully, if Adrian isn't distracting me. I've set up our downstairs to be a daycare and will hopefully find some kids who need a place to play for the summer to make it worth it. The girls play with the toys enough already and want friends to come over to play with them!

Shay

Our neighborhood had a yard sale weekend and the girls came with me to get the bouncer I wanted for Adrian, but they also were spoiled with new things that I bought for them! I didn't have the foresight to make them bring their own money and limit them so every house we passed that had toys they asked for things. But making them happy with a $1 toy is easier than buying them brand-new toys when it's not a birthday or holiday.

Beautiful May

 Adrian

Our little man is still as cute as ever and I love getting to see him when he's happy and smiley, and it seems to be happening more often. He gets good naps most days and then has solid awake time, and is even getting an earlier bedtime somehow! I'm working on getting my house reorganized so he gets his own room and my sewing room is moving out. I switched around quite a few things actually preparing for a summer daycare and hope to have a few more kids added to the crazy for a couple months. The old workout room is becoming the guest/napping room and the room we had guests stay in is now my workout room. The open area upstairs is currently holding all of my sewing room stuff and the closets of the guest room and Adrian's room have storage and it is nowhere near how I want it permanently. I haven't done it yet, but this next week we are going to test the waters of Adrian all the way in his own room!

Claire

We traveled to Blackfoot for the weekend to see family, had a pancake breakfast hosted by the scouts with grandma, and saw the baby blessing of one of the other new babies in the family! Adrian isn't even the newest baby on Chris's side of the family and the girls are obsessed with holding and loving her just like they were when Adrian was brand new. He is old news to hold, but both Claire and Shay asked several times to hold their little cousin. She is so little and precious and I'm glad I have a sister-in-law that is better at getting pictures than I am or I wouldn't have had them. Another fun thing the girls started this week was their first gymnastics class at the rec center! They have a lot of work to do to pay attention and really understand what the coach is trying to teach, but I hope they won't always be crazy.

Shay

Being at home has its advantages for Shay, but she is still hoping to go to school as soon as possible and is starting to understand that her school doesn't start until Claire has a birthday. I've noticed I need to teach her how to behave in certain instances so I don't have to correct her at the moment in front of people. I didn't know how to explain to her that she couldn't just run around and be crazy in the gymnastics class because she distracts other people and doesn't listen as well. When we read books I always do one that I read and she has to sit quietly to listen and tell me what she remembers. I still have to tell her to stay next to me when we go shopping and I want to put a leash on her so she can't wander off anymore...It makes me wish she was in school already and I could go shopping with just me and Adrian because he doesn't ask for everything he sees! Yet...

Buttercup

We added another family member! Our new puppy, who turned 8 weeks on Tuesday, was ready to be picked up and introduced to her new home on Thursday. Shay came with me and was so sweet at trying to make her feel comfortable in her new home by cuddling her when she was in the crate. We had been shopping to get all the things we needed for Princess Buttercup before she came home and then we spent the weekend getting her used to traveling in a car by visiting family! the first night she was in her crate, after napping all day it didn't go too bad with her whining because I would sit next to her and calm her down. When we were traveling she slept in the bed with Chris and me even though the girls wanted her to be with them. She still needs to be taken out to go the bathroom too often and Adrian wakes me up anyway so I'm in charge of that. I'm excited to train her play with her and make her life happy!
