Subbing, interviews, and appendixes, oh my!

We are going to start with the first week of our adventures because it should be a lot better than the events that happened this past week.

Subbing

I taught my second week of the Math class I was doing this week and felt like I made some small differences to the ways things work in the classroom to try and keep my own sanity. The kids didn't complain too much so it wasn't the biggest changes and I found out that most of them had already done turning in assignments at the end of the week all together last year. It gave me a lot of extra time to during the day to get with the students that wanted to get their 1st quarter grades up and prep the tests that some were missing. I think I was able to help a lot of students and I'm glad I did!
One student in particular is my new favorite story because she came to me and basically said she couldn't do it because she is dumb and has been going through a rough time with her friend passing away. I am just a long term sub so I was surprised she shared this with me and I told her to take her time in coming back from the bathroom and cleaning up and I can help her in any way she would like. She came in for help and I gave her the tests she had been missing in the grade book saying she needed to only do a certain amount of problems to she me she knows how to do them and she could be scored an adequate grade. She did it right and it raised her grade from a F to a C because tests are worth 80% of the grade and she was so happy  and started telling her friends in the class. This is why I love being a teacher.

Claire

Still doesn't tell us before she poops yet but wants to go sit on the toilet so I was going to take the week of school off to potty train her, but you'll see what happens later on that! She enjoys her time at Daycare which make me happy and glad that she will go without being upset about being away from mommy and daddy. She is still a pretty picky eater for the most part and we need to work on sitting at the table from now on for breakfast lunch and dinner instead of skipping that essential part of the process when mommy got sick, she started to rule the house and enjoyed ruining my living room by pulling all the books off the shelf and taking the shoes out of their place. Luckily, she can only reach up so high and doesn't bring out all her room toys anymore to spread more ciaos, she just has a few things she has to carry around everywhere: her wobbie, a stuffed dog, and her cup. She likes to help cook and now that I've accepted her help she likes it even more especially stirring the noodles for her Mac and Cheese. I'm glad she understands that food takes time to cook now too! Now that she has Nana Cox in town she can be more picky without me to force her to eat...

Shay

I'm so grateful we started weaning and teaching her to drink from the bottle because being on medication and constantly away from her she is still able to eat. It is hard to get a milk supply back for me so I now assume we are officially done with that even though I enjoyed our cuddle time in the morning and right before bed. Her favorite baby foods to eat are apple/pear sauce and sweet potato and is really picky about the other flavors that go in her mouth, and she is not afraid to spit it out. She is really good and moving around side to side, turning around, and moving backwards but still hasn't put her hand and then foot forward to crawl! Hopefully I'll be home before she does though and she can crawl towards me! I think she is still being spoiled when we go to the VASA gym because people like holding her, I don't know why because she is getting so heavy! Whenever I'm the one at home while they sleep I let her wiggle and put herself to sleep but I've noticed other people don't....I just think she is a wiggle baby sometimes so she is getting comfortable.

Hospital

So it all started last Saturday when I thought I had a stomach bug and threw up until 3-4am then was miserably constipated and tired on Sunday. Chris gave me an enema that night which didn't work and I was miserable the next day as well until about 2-3pm when my abdomen exploded with pain and Chris got me a laxative and did another enema. He explained to me exactly what would happen if we went to the hospital and I decided to do the home remedy instead and stuck out the pain. Chris got his stuff ready because he had drill in Boise for the week and left at 7 on Monday while I was still struggling and waiting for the constipation to be over. I barely got the girls to bed and tried to wind down and sit on the toilet waiting for something to happen but ended up going to bed with big air bubbles moving around in my stomach. My time had finally come Tuesday morning and the relief was so great! Now, I just need to recover from that awful experience and then life will go back to normal. I was still crippled with residual pain on Tuesday and had some help with the girls, but I was convinced it would get better. On Wednesday I woke up feeling better rested and still in pain but looking up until I spent all day with the girls and my energy disappeared and I was convinced there was something more wrong. I had my neighbor watch my girls for the night and headed to the ER to find out my appendix burst and spread some infection inside me. I've been here ever since trying to recover and get help with the girls, luckily Chris came back as soon as he heard and my parents came to help too.

Conclusion

I wish I had come in when my pain was so high on Monday because it might have been an easier time at the hospital, but I didn't want to be the patient that came to the hospital to poop. I would give everyone advice to just go if you hurt so bad you can barely walk with the help of your husband because there is something wrong. Nothing that hurts you that bad is ok toughing it out just might kill you if it is something as serious as an appendicitis, its always good to just know for sure. I caused more problems because I tried to tough it out than if I had admitted it hurt so bad I wanted to see a doctor and made my husband miss his interview for Washington University. He will get another shot in December luckily but I felt really bad being an inconvenience to everyone else, especially the long term subbing position I was in that now has to be filled by someone else.
